2+2 Program in University of Southampton (Double Degree Program for undergraduates)

1. About the Institution

University of Southampton, referred to as SOTON, is the world's top 100 universities. Founded in 1862, the main campus is located in Southampton, England. Ranked 97th in the QS World University Rankings 2020, it is a research university in the top 1% of the world. University of Southampton is the only university in the UK to receive a five star research rating for each of its engineering departments, and is widely recognized as one of the top technology universities in the world.


2. About the 2+2 Program

School of Statistics in SWUFE signed a student collaboration agreement with the School of Mathematics at University of Southampton in the UK in the spring semester of 2019. According to the agreement, each spring semester, students will finish online application and a list of candidates will be provided by School of Statistics. SOTON will process all the applications online and decide who will be admitted to this Program. Students participated in this Program will spend the first two years studying in School of Statistics at SWUFE, and they will go to School of Mathematics in SOTON and continue their third and fourth year of study after achieving the required academic performance. Students will be awarded a bachelor's degree by SWUFE and a bachelor's degree by SOTON after their courses and dissertations meet the graduation requirements of both institutions. Up to now, the School has successfully sent 5 students to study in University of Southampton.

4. Application

a) Full-time second-year undergraduate students in School of Statistics;

b) Complete all required courses in the first and second year with an average score of not less than 75;

c) Mathematics-related courses are required to achieve an average score of 80 or above;

d) IELTS should no less than 6.5 with each part no less than 6.0 (students may apply for a Pre-sessional English Course offered by University of Southampton if they fail to meet the requirement)
