3+1+1 Program in Western University

1. About the Institution

1. Founded in 1878, Western University is one of the oldest universities in Canada. Together with Queen's University, University of Toronto and McGill University, it is known as the Old Four. With a history of more than 130 years and a strong human resources background, Western University has made remarkable achievements in business, medicine and liberal arts.


2. About the 3+1+1 Program

Western University, Canada officially signed the "3+1+1" Joint Academic Program with SWUFE in 2015. According to the Agreement, students who participate in the program will spend the first three years at SWUFE and the fourth year and subsequent postgraduate studies at Western University. Students will obtain a bachelor's degree from SWUFE and a master's degree from Western University in Canada after graduation. 12 students has been sent to Western for exchange and study since the beginning of the program.


3. Application

a) Full-time third-year students in School of Statistics (students from School of Insurance, School of Mathematics are acceptable);

b) Achievement of an average of 78%, or greater in the first three years of study at SWUFE;

c) Achievement of an average of at least 78% in all Mathematics and Statistics courses taken in the last two years of study at SWUFE;  

d) Satisfactory evidence of proficiency in English: TOEFL no less than 86 or IELTS no less than 6.5, or CAEL(The Canadian Academic English Language Assessment) no less than 60;

e) Others.
