General Introduction:

Department of Mathematical Statistics is responsible for major construction and talent training for undergraduates, postgraduates and PhD students in the field of mathematical statistics. Faculties in the Department of Mathematical Statistics mainly focus on practical problems, and are engaged in the research of statistical theory and application by using probability and other statistical tools. The combination of theoretical research and practical application has become its distinctive feature.

Major research areas: Semi-parametric/non-parametric statistical modeling and inference methods, network data analysis, data mining, statistical computing, portfolio optimization, financial risk management etc.

The department now has 14 faculty members, in which there are 2 professors, 9 associate professors and 3 lecturers.
